Android phone?

android is a program....not a phone like iphone from apple.I've been hearing a lot about these new "android" phones, like the google phone. I have verizon wireless and I am trying to figure out if any of these kind of phones will be released for them. I know I heard that verizon and google may be making an agreement...any clues?
